Study in Romania: 82% of prosumers would consider purchasing a battery storage system, but price remains a significant obstacle

According to a recent study conducted for the platform despre-energie.ro, a project of E.ON and Delgaz Grid, the majority of Romanians interested in prosumerism believe that purchasing a battery energy storage system would be beneficial; however, the high price represents the main obstacle.

Thus, 82% of respondents expressed interest in or considered installing a battery storage system, while 72% indicated that price is the primary reason preventing them from making this investment. Additionally, 47% of respondents do not know much or anything about the advantages of energy storage systems.

Among Romanians living in houses who are already prosumers or wish to become so, 53% would opt to purchase a battery storage system. However, a significant portion of this group lacks sufficient information regarding the benefits of these technologies.

When asked about the advantages of storage systems, the majority of respondents (53%) stated that they understand the benefits and how the system works, 37% have heard about the topic but do not know the details, and 10% have no knowledge in this area.

The motivations for acquiring a battery storage system are ranked as follows: 43% believe that reducing energy bills is the primary reason, 36% indicate energy independence, 19% mention security in case of power outages, and 2% consider environmental aspects to be relevant.

Regarding the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of apartment buildings, 57% of Romanians living in such properties believe it would be beneficial for all residents. However, 28% think the decision depends on the cost-benefit ratio, while 8% have not yet considered this aspect.

This study highlights both the growing interest among Romanians in green energy solutions and the need for information and financial accessibility in the field of energy storage technologies.
