PPC Energie Launches Dynamic Tariff Offer for Small Businesses in Romania

PPC Energie has officially expanded its dynamic electricity tariff structure to the small business segment with the launch of PPC Ore Smart PRO. The new product remains the only active offer with a dynamic price on the Romanian market, designed to help companies improve consumption efficiency by reshaping their daily usage habits. The offer is specifically designed for non-household customers equipped with smart meters integrated into the smart metering system (SMI) and who have an estimated electricity consumption of less than 200,000 kWh per year. The contract secures a fixed price for electricity valid for 12 months, but excludes prosumers.

How the Time-of-Use Discount Structure Works
Mirroring the structure of the residential PPC Ore Smart+ offer, the business version introduces a split pricing mechanism based on specific time slots to incentivize consumption during off-peak hours or high renewable production periods:
Low-Tarif Intervals (1.00 – 1.09 lei/kWh, all taxes included):
- Weekends: Every Saturday and Sunday, all day long (00:00 – 23:59).
- Nights: Monday to Friday, between 00:00 and 05:59.
- Midday Solar Peak: Monday to Friday, between 11:00 and 14:59 from March 1 to October 31 (aligned with peak solar photovoltaic energy generation).

Standard-Tariff Intervals (1.65 – 1.73 lei/kWh, all taxes included):
- Monday to Friday, from 06:00 to 10:59 and 15:00 to 23:59 year-round.
- Monday to Friday, from 11:00 to 14:59 during winter months (November 1 to February 28).

Note: Final prices vary within these ranges depending on the specific regional distribution area.

Target Segments and Early Performance Data
Data gathered in August from the residential version of the offer revealed that 22% of household customers successfully shifted their consumption, reducing their energy share during the peak evening hours of 20:00 to 23:00.PPC Energie recommends the PPC Ore - Smart PRO plan for a wide variety of small enterprises and local institutions, including:
- Continuous-operation businesses: Hostels, IT server rooms, and data infrastructure companies.
- Daytime & weekend operations: Local food producers, beauty salons, convenience stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and professional laundries.
- Public sector: Local public institutions managing automated street lighting.

Leadership Insight"After the success of PPC Ore Smart+ for the residential segment, we are now extending this benefit to small companies, a segment in which every cost counts when planning the day ahead," said Ionuț Dună, General Manager of PPC Energie. "We have noticed a real need in the market for lower electricity prices, especially among small entrepreneurs, who directly feel the impact of operational costs on their daily activity. That is why we offer small companies the lowest price in low-tariff intervals, for better control of electricity costs."

Because the plan requires integrated smart meters, billing is automated based on actual consumption data sent directly to the distribution operator, eliminating the need for manual index submissions. Meter rollouts continue across Romania under the schedule approved by the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).
