E.ON Energie România, a prominent provider of energy solutions, together with Continental Automotive, a global leader in the development and production of innovative technologies for the automotive industry, have announced the completion of a solar power plant in Timișoara. The project, which involved the installation of 1,440 solar panels, is a testament to the commitment of both companies to sustainability and green energy.
The solar power plant boasts a nominal installed capacity of 655 kWp and will generate approximately 715 MWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the energy consumption of several households. This initiative will significantly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions, with an estimated reduction of around 152 tons per year. This not only underscores the commitment to the environment but also highlights the importance of green energy in the development strategies of the companies.
Claudia Griech, General Director of E.ON Energie România, emphasized that strong partnerships are essential for supporting B2B clients in the transition to energy independence and sustainability. “The completion of the solar plant in Timișoara is a clear example that the future of renewable energy is here and now, and sustainability is becoming a crucial requirement for any company wishing to position itself competitively in the market,” Griech stated.
For his part, Lucian Mărgineanu, Director of the Automotive Factory in Timișoara, stated that responsibility and sustainability are fundamental to innovation. “Through our products and services, we commit to supporting sustainable mobility. The solar power plant is an important step towards a greener future, and the implementation of green energy technologies helps us reduce emissions in production,” Mărgineanu said.
E.ON managed the entire investment for Continental Automotive, providing integrated solutions that included consulting, customized design, implementation, and financing over a 10-year period. Additionally, E.ON will ensure the maintenance of the solar system through a full-service contract, thereby guaranteeing its optimal operation in the long run.
In the context of global energy transition, E.ON Energie România has a vast portfolio of photovoltaic generation projects, with over 392 completed projects in the non-residential segment, valued at 74 million euros. These initiatives have resulted in an annual production of over 104 GWh of photovoltaic energy, contributing to a total reduction in CO2 emissions of approximately 23,000 tons per year.
Thus, the completion of the solar power plant in Timișoara by E.ON and Continental Automotive not only underscores the commitment of both companies to sustainability but also their openness to innovation in the energy sector, having a positive impact on the environment and contributing to a greener economy.
