Romania imported 14% less gas

 


Romania imported, in the first half of 2022, a quantity of usable natural gas of 930,500 tons of oil equivalent (toe), 14% (151,700 toe) lower than in the same period last year, reports Agerpres.

Domestic natural gas production was, during the mentioned period, over 2.957 million toe, being 5.61% (176,400 toe) below that of the first five months of 2021.

The National Commission for Strategy and Forecast estimates for 2022 a gas production of 7.45 million toe and imports of 2.33 million toe, increasing by 1.9%, respectively decreasing by 19.6%, from year to year .

The Ministry of Energy has adopted the "Energy Strategy 2019-2030, with a view to 2050". According to it, Romania's natural gas production will reach a peak of 132 TWh, in 2025, as a result of production in the Black Sea, and then will decrease to 96 TWh in 2030 and to 65 TWh, in 2050.
