The technical experts of the European Investment Bank and Transelectrica want cooperation in order to accelerate energy investments in Romania

 


Transelectrica and the European Investment Bank will intensify cooperation to strengthen and accelerate investments in the electricity network in Romania. Technical consultancy collaboration, whose role is to facilitate and streamlined investment processes in the field of energy, was agreed today, in Bucharest, by Gabriel Andronache, the chairman of the Transelectrica Board of Directors, Florin Tătaru, a member of the Transelectrica Board of Directors and Christian Kettel Thomsen, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, responsible for energy and lending operations in Romania.

Transelectrica is the National Electricity Transmission Company in Romania and operates lines
transmission of high voltage electricity, managing a network of 8931 kilometers, as well as 81 stations
electrical transformers throughout the country. Cooperation with the European Investment Bank will bring together the most good practices to increase the pace of future investments in the electricity grid, improve auctions and public procurement, as well as energy project management.

"The European Investment Bank is collaborating with Romanian partners in the energy sector in order to consolidate high-impact energy investments across the country. We are pleased to conclude our first agreement consultancy with Transelectrica to support transformational investments to accelerate future projects necessary in order to increase the capacity of Romania's electricity network, so that it can be covered increased energy demand and lead to improved quality of electricity transmission service. Investing in energy is key to meeting climate policies and decarbonisation targets established in the long term ", said Christian Kettel-Thomsen, Vice President of the European Investment Bank responsible for energy and lending operations in Romania.

The European Investment Bank has provided over 1.2 billion Euros to investments in energy throughout Romania since 1991.
