Belarus has adopted the Concept of Energy Security

The concept provides a significant reduction of energy dependence on natural gas; reduction of energy intensity of GDP; improving the sustainability of the country’s economy to a sharp rise in prices for imported energy (indicator “ratio of cost of imported energy resources to GDP,” pass from subcritical to a normal zone) “, – the Council of Ministers of Belarus.

The main mechanisms for implementation of the concept should be the “Strategy of development of the energy potential of the Republic of Belarus” and the state program. Measures for the implementation of the concept is reflected in the state program of development of the Belarusian energy system, the republican program “Energy” and the national program for the development of local and renewable energy sources. Academy of Sciences of Belarus prescribed annually until February 25 to submit a report on the state of the energy security of the Republic “with proposals to strengthen it.”
