Moldova has alternative to Russian gas

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Leanca Moldovan Prime Minister and European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger lit Wednesday August 27 in the town of Zagarancea, Ungheni country from Moldova flame of inaugural Ungheni-Iasi pipeline in the presence of official delegations of the two countries and locals attended the event.

Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline was started a year ago, the total project cost is EUR 26 million, 7 million grant from the EU.

Pipeline with a total of 43.2 km with have an capacity of 1.5 billion cubic gas, of which Romania will be initially delivered a volume of up to 50 million cubic meters per year. The pipeline will be assigned in Moldova by Vestmoldtransgaz state enterprises and the in to Romanian side by Transgaz. The next stage of the project pipeline is Ungheni- Chisinau in Moldova and Onesti-Leţcani pipeline gas compression station in Romania.
